Parenting
Generally parenting is rearing(raising and educating) a child or children from birth to adulthood, especially the love, care and guidance given by a parent.
In human beings, usually it is done by the biological parents but in many cases, society and governments take a responsibility of parenting including cases where orphaned children get parental care from non biological parents and cases where the others may be placed in an orphanage or adopted.
Parenting styles
There exists three main parenting styles: authoritative, authoritarian, and permissive.
Authoritarian parenting style is a type of parenting which is very strict and based on control. In this type of parenting style parents put strict set of rules and expectations before their child/children and in case if rules are not followed punishment is given to them. The negative side of this type of parenting style is that children raised in this style were less cheerful and more vulnerable to stress due to lack of affection or love.
Permissive(Indulgent) parenting style is just opposite of the authoritarian parenting style which is most popular in middle class families. In this style freedom of child is placed at top priority by the parents setting not much rules(rules are non strict) and they lets the child have control with the feeling that their children need to be free thinkers and self learners. A lot of love and affection is present in this style of parenting due to which generally children are happy but the disadvantage of this parenting style is that children do not learn some necessary rules which are essential for better disciplined life.
Democratic parenting style includes features of both permissive and authoritarian parenting styles. Both control and support are exercised in this parenting style and this is most beneficial for the children according to research. Here both children and perents are equally involved, parents are aware of feeling, capabilities and requirements of child so support his/her development within reasonable limits and children usually become able to handle conflicts and problems in a reasonable manner.
